now that i'm waking up again, i'm also beginning to actively resent the amount of time that my job rents my head.

this does not support a good work ethic.

i need to get better, both at conducting the normal swerve, duck and turn of my thoughts, and at giving that time not spoken for, over to my own productivity. i have a strong tendency to become passive after a normal day's work, as an escape from its demands. that passivity does not serve me well.

To be precise, I think passivity pisses you off. Does the aftermath of a day's work require to much down time on your own time to recharge? So by the time you are recharged the day is done? When that happens to me I get very annoyed.

as you could probably guess, i have this problem too on and off (exasperated by working from home 9-10 hrs/day and juggling 2 clients). some days the only difference between working and not is what file i have open in my programmer's editor.

when i can switch off, its usually only due to having a personal project on the go that i habitually default to in the evenings. beginning a project is problematic, but once i do the force[1] is strong within me ...

[1] force of habit that is

Same here, unfortunately. I've started 'watching' CourtTV as a means of disengaging my brain after a day of pushing code around. It's not a good thing ...
